About

Welcome. In my free time, I’m a developer and hands-on engineer with a strong focus on practical, real-world problem solving across both hardware and software.

My work spans a wide range of personal and technical projects, from embedded systems and smart home integrations to hardware restoration and custom-built solutions. I often work with microcontrollers like the PIC, ESP32 and ESP8266, designing systems that are efficient, modular, and capable of operating independently when needed.

Many of my builds involve repurposing older hardware, extending the life of existing tech, or finding better ways to achieve specific goals, whether that’s restoring a vintage boombox, constructing a digital pinball machine, or building a low-power standalone monitoring system. I typically take a full stack approach to projects: from circuitry and mechanical design to firmware and user interface.

This website serves as a living archive of my work documenting progress, sharing solutions, and providing insight into the thought process behind each build. If you're interested in embedded development, DIY electronics, or custom systems design, you'll likely find something of interest here.

Outside of tech, I also like to document other interests from time to time.

We visit Spain fairly frequently, and I plan to share some of those experiences on the site particularly as we’ve started exploring more 'off the beaten path' places.

On the odd occasion, I tinker with music software. I’m not the best composer, but I’m far from the worst either!

I also have a sporadic interest in radio. I’ve considered taking the Amateur Radio exams, but realistically, I’d struggle to find the time to make good use of a licence.
